Diamond Point is
complete! A Grand Opening was held on
Friday, June 2nd at 12:00 p.m. Around 100 people
were present to officially open the building to
the public. David Morgan, Executive Director of
the Kentucky Heritage Council, gave a brief
overview of the history of the building and how
the process all began. Chairman David Shewmaker
thanked the City and County governments for all
their help and the community for supporting this
project. The Mayor and Judge Executive cut the
ribbon to signal the opening of Diamond Point.
The community walked through the 7,000 square
foot building and admired its beauty.
Diamond Point now serves as the Welcome Center
for Harrodsburg and Mercer County. The
Harrodsburg/Mercer County Tourist Commission,
the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce, the
Harrodsburg/Mercer County Industrial Development
Authority, and the Harrodsburg First office all
moved to Diamond Point in late June. All
organizations work together to better the
community and make a positive impact on
Harrodsburg and Mercer County.
Preservation of historic properties has always
been an objective and goal of our community.
Diamond Point is an example of Lafever
architecture and is one of only seven such
structures found in the state.
